Schedule of Panels & Presentations for LATINO COMICS EXPO 2012

The LATINO COMICS EXPO returns to the world-famous CARTOON ART MUSEUM in San Francisco this week on May 5 & 6, 2012. The Expo is open from 11am - 5pm on Saturday and Sunday. Admission to the LATINO COMICS EXPO is included with your paid admission to the Museum. 

Here's the schedule for all of our programing: 

FRIDAY:

7-9pm: Opening Night Reception forLA RAZA COSMICA: A CELEBRATION OF THE LATINO AMERICAN EXPERIENCE IN THE COMIC ARTS.  An art exhibit featuring Spain Rodriguez, Mario Hernandez, Lalo Alcaraz, Rafael Navarro, Isis Rodriguez, Jaime Crespo, Javier Hernandez, Jose Cabrera and Grasiela Rodriguez. The show will be on display from May 5-September 30.

SATURDAY:

11:50: Co-Founders Ricardo Padilla and Javier Hernandez with Opening Statements for the 2012 Latino Comics Expo.

12-12:45: Making zines with the Locals: Bay Area cartoonists Jaime Crespo, Liz Mayorga & Gabrielle Gamboa discuss their work, and how their personal experiences influence their art.

1-1:45: Self-Publishing your Comics: Featuring a wide range of experiences, these creators discuss the trials and tribulations of creating their own comics. With Rafael Navarro, Michael Aushenker, Crystal Gonzalez, Mario T. Lanao & Cristian Garcia.

2-2:45: Mythology in Comics: This group of creators share how the mythologies of Mexico and Latin America inspire their work. With Isis Rodriguez, Rodolfo Mendoza , Daniel Parada, Adriana Garcia Cabrera and Javier Hernandez.

3-3:45: In Conversation with Spain Rodriguez and Mario Hernandez: Ricardo Padilla hosts a conversation between LOVE & ROCKETS alumni Mario Hernandez and underground comix legend Spain Rodriguez. 
 
7-9pm: MISSION: COMICS & ART hosts the Official LATINO COMICS EXPO After Party. This event is being help at their store which is located at 3520 20th St. Suite B, San Francisco, CA 94110.


SUNDAY:
 
12-1:00 pm: Latino Animators Unite: From Thought to Page to Screen. A look inside the minds of four animators and the process of making their cartoons come to life. With Grasiela Rodriguez, Octavio Rodriguez, John Jota Leaños & Jose Cabrera.

1:15-2:00: A reading and Q&A w/Mario Hernandez. Ricardo Padilla host this panel with cartoonist Mario Hernandez, who will read from one of his comics.

2:30-3:15: Kids Comic Book Workshop. Anthony Oropeza, creator of the "AmigoMan" comic book series, brings his popular comics workshop to the Latino Comics Expo.
