Yehudi Mercado and Theresa Rojas at the Latino Comics Expo San José

Yehudi Mercado, an Art Director for Disney Interactive, will be joining us for his first Expo. He recently worked as writer/art director for the Guardians of the Galaxy: The Universal Weapon mobile game. His graphic novels include Pantalones, TX (Boom/Archaia), Buffalo Speedway (Devastator) and the upcoming Rocket Salvage (Boom/Archaia). He contributes to The Amazing World of Gumball and theupcoming Uncle Grandpa comics (Boom).



Theresa Rojas, also joining us for her first Expo, is an artist and doctoral candidate at The Ohio State University completing her dissertation at MIT in the department of Comparative Media Studies & Writing.Her dissertation is on the narratological tools at work in Latino comics, literature, television, and film. She'll be moderating two panels at the Expo: "SuperLats: Latino Superheroes in Mainstream & Alternative Comics"and"Lucha Libre, Urban Apocalypse, and [Semi/Auto] Biographix: Latino Comics Studies in the 21st Century".

 
The Latino Comics Expo San José will be held the weekend of October 11 & 12 at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library on the campus of San José State University. The event runs on Saturday from 10am-6pm and on Sunday from 1pm-6pm. Admission to the Expo is free.

In addition to our two exhibit rooms featuring cartoonists, writers, illustrators, zine makers, book vendors and more, the Expo will feature 2 days of panels, presentations and children's workshops.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library is located at 150 E San Fernando St, San José, CA 95112.
